Reasons:

Troutdale is going to grow and how it grows is important to me and my family.

While growth continues to happen the rate of growth has slowed. We have the opportunity to evaluate and plan for the best use of the remaining properties available for development. We need to balance commercial and residential growth in order to maintain the livability of Troutdale. We need to consider the capacities of our roads, water system , schools, etc. to avoid the problems faced by other communities who neglected those issues.

Promoting and building neighborhood associations, boosters, etc. is key to involving citizens in the decision making process. Approaching the community with a style that encourages and values citizen input is critical to citizens feeling they have a voice. It is only when people feel their contributions matter that they will get involved.

Citizen involvement is invaluable in making and maintaining Troutdale as the type of community we all want to live in.

Science Technology Park. This plan could benefit our young people with training and opportunities they may not otherwise have. This type project could attract vital industry to the area that could help bring living wage jobs. It could expand the tax base helping to provide necessary community services. As with any major undertaking however, we must be cautious in the way we proceed to insure there are no unintended consequences that could negatively impact East County livability.

Redevelopment of the Waste Water Treatment Facility (Sewage Treatment Plant). Redevelop the area in a manner that enhances Downtown Troutdale, with walking trails and promenades along the Sandy River, Restaurants, Community use areas in balance with Businesses needs.

The Tax Payer’s dollar must be carefully used to provide the best value for the Citizens of Troutdale. The importance of Police and Fire protection is utmost in keeping Troutdale the safe and desirable city we have today.
